Preliminary task

Introduction

To do this task we split up into groups, I was paired up with Alex and Jake. We decided the best way to plan out our video was to mind map our different our ideas. we branched off five different sections to our mind map. editing, plot, dialogue, camera angles and location for all of these we listed several different ideas and then selected one final idea for our video.

planning

At the start of our first lesson we were introduced to the preliminary task. we were told we have to create a 30 second video that contains at least two characters and four lines of dialogue. one of the character must walk into a room and this is where the dialogue should take place.

We first decided on a plot for a video which was to be a drug exchange. Once we had a plot we then looked at several possible locations and characters to use for our final edit. As a group we thought that the best possible location to film in was the office this was because of our first choice (the canteen) was unavailable for use. And for the characters we wanted the exchange to be between a student and a dinner lady so it could be filmed in school.

filming

the day after we finished planning we moved onto filming our video. Jack a student on a free period offered to act out the part of the student, And then Jake from our group also offered to act but as the part of the dinner lady.

we each took turns using the Cannon DSLR camera  to film different parts of our video. we managed to capture a variety of different shots and angles.

The start of the video was jack outside walking up the stairs. We took a low angle shot of this and also filmed a extreme close up of both jacks feet and the door handle to add depth the scene. once inside we set up the lighting and tripods and continued filming. After Jack was inside he walked over to the office were he meets the dinner lady(Jake) and then exchanged dialogue.  While the dialogue is taking place we shot each line as a shot reverse shot and then ended the scene with another close up of the exchange and then jack walking out.

editing

to edit our video we used Adobe Premier Pro software. we looked through all of the raw footage that we took and selected clips that would go into our final edit. We imported all the clips we would be using and then placed them in the order we wanted them. Once we had one clip we played it through and we could see what parts needed trimming and editing.
